Beth Pemberton, Artist Bio
My training in art began as an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon. I pursued and earned a different degree at that time, completing my art studies a decade later at San Jose State University in conjunction with a teaching degree in Visual Art. Subsequent art exploration at University of Berkeley Extension while on Sabbatical has further informed development of my artwork. I relocated to San Francisco for a year to explore new art processes and gain exposure to contemporary artists working in the Bay Area. Art training and exploration have included oil and acrylic painting, drawing and painting on Mylar, mixed media, clay and work with various fiber materials.
Exhibits of work include cafe settings in Honolulu, Hawaii and Capitola, California as well as a submission to a group show of the Kauai Society of Artists on Kauai, Hawaii, and a group show at UC Berkeley Extension in San Francisco. With a recent year on Sabbatical dedicated to advancing my work, I will actively be seeking exhibition opportunities in the near future. During this year of intensive work and study, the use of Mylar as a painting and drawing surface, digital images and photographic prints, as well as introduction to traditional, contemporary Chinese painting techniques now inform my art. Through one of influential courses, I have been included in a group of artist exploring Traditional Contemporary Chinese Painting, Guo Hua Modernist - A Group & Movement.
